Working with glass and fire has been an artistic passion since I was introduced to it in art school. One can use a copper shape which has been hand-cut or manufactured. The design is created with powdered glass fused to the top and underneath sides of the copper. It is fused in a kiln. Cloisonné is a technique of applying silver wire and fusing it into the glass design.  Additional fine frit is placed carefully inbetween the silver lines.

Fusing glass into a design can also be created in a kiln by “melting” glass shapes together. The glass shapes are cut carefully and arranged on a flat piece of  (for me) clear glass.  Sometimes there is an additional firing when this piece is placed on a shallow mold.
